1. I need a GPS only for Singapore and Malaysia navigation.
We would suggest that you choose GNAVI GPS-35B or HOLUX GPSmile 53CL because they contain 2 x Singapore maps by Mapking and Malsingmaps, 2 x Peninsular Malaysia maps by Mapking and Malsingmaps, and 1 x East Malaysia maps by Malsingmaps. East Malaysia maps include Sabah, Sarawak, Brunei and Indonesia (Kalimantan Barat).
2. I may need a GPS for overseas navigation, not only for Singapore and Malaysia.
We would suggest that you choose Novogo S-700BT because it is able to support overseas map with a single device. In another words, Remove your SD card(preloaded with Singapore/Malaysia maps) from the device and insert a new SD card(preloaded with your preferred maps) and you are able to navigate with the same device. This is because maps of both devices are regularly updated due to close collaboration with local mapping bodies. In Singapore case, maps are derived from Singapore Land Authorities(SLA). You may download the free map updates at our support page.
8. Does your GPS comes with touch-screen and voice-prompts?
Yes, it does. It will inform you where you are and how to reach your input destination by both audio(voice instruction) and visual(indicated blue line on the road)
9. What are the advantages of a portable GPS compared to a built-in GPS on a car?
Firstly it is much much cheaper to buy a portable gps compared to a built-in gps . Secondly, a portable gps allows you to carry with you anywhere you go but a built-in gps is permanently mounted onto your dashboard, hence you may have to spend some money uninstalling from the old car onto the new car should you upgrade your car. Thirdly, it is complicated to have a built-in gps on your car as it may interfere with the car's performance. This comparison goes on but we prefer to keep it simple.
10. How long does the lithium battery in the GPS last?
Like a phone, the battery life depends on the capacity of the battery and the power consumption of individual gps models. However, generally, it should be able to last for approximately 2 hours. Similarl to a phone battery, when a battery is charged frequently, the lifespan also tends to shorten.
